And some of our favorites over the years.
As we are rolling into the fall (already), we have decided to feature one of our more popular custom requests- reclaimed barnwood accent walls. Selecting the wood for accent walls is a fun for us, too.
The reason we're talking about accent walls right now is because we see the number of requests for accent walls nearly double every fall. We think it has something to do with the chilly weather- it starts to get cooler, everyone wants to light a fire in their fireplace, and, well, what goes better with falling leaves and hot apple cider than a wall of reclaimed barnwood?
These accent walls can be the perfect addition to any space- a studio, den, home office, restaurant, or even retail space.
We have been asked, before, if a reclaimed wood accent wall will be "too much" or if it will overpower a room. And there's one thing that we tell everyone- these accents can look however you want them to.
You can choose dark red pieces for something striking. Or gorgeous, grey or silver barn boards for a more subtle accent. Or even a variety of colored boards for a unique design. We have even had a previous customer install an accent wall from all live edge pieces.
One of our customer's who had a specific vision for their accent wall is White Buffalo Yoga Studio. The accent walls they designed and installed using Michigan Reclaimed Barns and Lumber's wood is truly stunning. They selected different colored barn boards and created a unique chevron design. The chevron accent walls provide an incredible backdrop for all of their yoga sessions.
One thing we've noticed over the years is that adding an reclaimed barn wood accent wall can completely transform a room. We have shared some additional photos from the White Buffalo Yoga Studio on our business partners page. You can see a close up of the chevron design, as well as photo of what it looked like during the installation process.
Now, sure you can use reclaimed barnwood inside your home or office or studio. But you can also use it as siding for your house, barn, or garage.
We installed barn boards as siding on a customer's house and garage. They selected primarily red boards, with some dark brown accents, and the boards paired nicely with the brick base underneath. The house is in Michigan, so the siding and brick are a nice splash of color during the winter. Plus, they provide an excellent backdrop to plants and gardens in the summer.
We also used barnwood siding on the Michigan Reclaimed Barns and Lumber workshop. Although it's a new structure that we built, the reclaimed siding adds that farmhouse aesthetic that's perfect for a reclaimed barnwood business. One of our upcoming blogs will take you through the construction process of our workshop and, of course, show you a ton of photos, from during and after.
As you can see, there are a ton of different options when it comes to accent walls. Whichever way you lean, reclaimed barnwood walls can add a pop of color, a splash of rustic... Whatever it is you are looking for in a room (which is one of the reasons we love 'em so much).
If you're looking for a way to bring new life into a room of your house without completely renovating the space, a reclaimed barnwood accent wall may be exactly what you're looking for.
We, of course, have all the raw materials you need to design and install your own accent wall. If you're looking for someone to install the wall, as well, please let us know. We do offer installation services on occasion, but it is on a case-by-case basis.
You're intrigued but you have questions? Please send us a message with your questions and contact information.
